Do children recognize more words looking at them up and to the left Ess
In order for the principle of looking up and to the left of a word to work, NL says that there are two main ideologies that need satisfying. Firstly, the subject must be right handed, and secondly, he must be a visual learner. However, similar to the studies of Loiselle and Malloy, the present researcher has worked on the premise that between 60 and 70% of the population is right handed Emes et al (2005), Malone (2003), Heaton et al (2008) and Holliday (1999), and would have, therefore, expected that the hypothesis be true in approximately 23 of the 33 right handed subjects used. Out of this studyââ¬â¢s sample of 36, the data showed that only 6 had results that concurred with the hypothesis. As a discrete figure, this could be perceived as showing some evidence to support the hypothesis, yet, 18% could not be considered statistically significant to render it conclusive. This figure became less significant in support of the hypothesis as the children who recalled these words also recalled words shown to the front. When subtracting the results from the controlled variable, the greatest margin was just two words, and this was found in just two children. Interestingly, although this may seem an insignificant amount, it correlated with the results from the research of Loiselle and Malloy, who concluded that the NL principle helped improve visual memory recall by 25%. To illustrate this similarity in results, the present researcher calculated that the difference of recognising 2 more words from the controlled variable to be 20%. Could this mean Loiselle and Malloy studies data proved significant enough evidence to conclude this NL principle worked? The statistics in fig. 1 revealed that the present researcherââ¬â¢s hypothesis was not ... ...to be shrouded by mystery, but strangely, NL trained people do not appear to want to demystify the principle and enhance its credibility. While the VAK in schools may still be enjoying popularity, an alarming thought is that, while it has been endorsed, and compartmentalised children without adequate research into its effectiveness. It is, therefore, concluded that once the good feeling stimulus is taken away from the NL principle of recognising words by looking at them up and to the left, what remains is that the field of vision is insignificant to it, but the basic principle that ââ¬Ëthe brain thinks in terms of imagesââ¬â¢ remains, Butler-Bowden (2005: 180).This research closes on the thought that Cricket Kempââ¬â¢s NL principle may actually be based upon hypnotherapy techniques, and, if used by accredited trainers could be a manipulative tool rather than a strategy.

Coffee Bean Essay
ST. GREGORYââ¬â¢S UNIVERSITY Coffee Bean, Inc. Managerial Accounting, BU2123, Research Project, Spring 2007 Coffee Bean, Inc. (CBI) is a processor and distributor of a variety of blends of coffee. The company buys coffee beans from around the world and roasts, blends and packages them for resale. CBI currently has 40 different coffees that it offers to gourmet shops in one-pound bags. The major cost of the coffee is the raw coffee beans. However, there is a substantial amount of manufacturing overhead in the companyââ¬â¢s predominantly automated roasting, blending and packing process. The company uses relatively little direct labor. Some of the coffees are very popular and sell in large volumes, while a few of the newer blends have very low volumes. CBI prices its coffee at manufacturing cost plus a markup of 30%. If CBIââ¬â¢s coffee prices are significantly higher than the market, adjustments are made to bring CBIââ¬â¢s prices more into alignment with the market. The company competes primarily on the quality of its products, but customers are price conscious as well. For the coming year, CBIââ¬â¢s budget includes estimated manufacturing overhead cost of $3,000,000. CBI assigns manufacturing overhead to products based on direct labor-hours. The expected direct labor cost totals $600,000, which represents 50,000 hours of direct labor time. Based on the sales budget and expected raw materials costs, the company will purchase and use $6,000,000 of raw materials (mostly coffee beans) during the year. The expected costs for direct materials and direct labor for one-pound bags of two of the companyââ¬â¢s many coffee products appear below: Mona Loa $4. 20 0. 30 Malaysian $3. 20 0. 30 Direct Materials Direct Labor (0.025 hours per bag) CBIââ¬â¢s president is very concerned about lowering profit margins. Several prices have had to be reduced to meet market pressures and other products are selling at good volumes without price adjustments. The president talked with CBIââ¬â¢s controller who believes that the companyââ¬â¢s traditional costing system, which uses direct labor costs to allocate manufacturing overhead, may be providing misleading cost information. To determine whether or not this is correct, the controller has prepared an analysis of the yearââ¬â¢s expected manufacturing overhead costs, as shown in the following table. Activity Center Cost Driver Purchasing Purchase Orders Materials handling Number of Setups Quality control Number of Batches Roasting Roasting Hours Blending Blending Hours Packaging Packaging Hours Total manufacturing overhead cost: Expected Activity 1,710 orders 1,800 setups 600 batches 96,100 hours 33,500 hours 26,000 hours Expected Cost $ 513,000 720,000 144,000 961,000 402,000 260,000 $3,000,000 Data regarding the expected production of two representative products, Mona Loa andà . Coffee Bean Malaysian coffee, are presented below. There will be no raw materials inventory for either of these coffees at the beginning of the year. Mona Loa Malaysian 100,000 2,000 Pounds 10,000 500 Pounds 3 3 Per batch 20,000 500 Pounds 1. 0 / 100 1. 0 /100 Hours per pound 0. 5 / 100 0. 5 /100 Hours per pound 0. 1 / 100 0. 1 /100 Hours per pound Expected sales Batch size Setups Purchase order size Roasting time Blending time Packaging time Step into the shoes of the controller and prepare a complete report for the president explaining the results of your research. Compare the two product-costing methods: (1) the currently-used, volume-based method, and (2) an activity-based method. The supporting tables should determine full costs and prices of both products using the two different cost allocation methods. Continue your detailed report to the president by justifying why the company should remain using their present overhead allocation method or to go activity-based costing. Go beyond the accounting issues in your report, mentioning the impact on pricing, volume, and marketing decisions. Support your recommendation with current articles (Use the online resources of the SGU James J. Kelly Library to locate articles within the last year that deal with cost allocation issues). Three to five supporting articles should be sufficient to support your findings. Since this is a formal report, it will require a transmittal memo summarizing your findings. This memo/summary should be supported by a detailed report including tables and references to business/accounting literature. Include a bibliography in APA format. Also, since presidents rarely have time to read the entire article, but are interested in their content, provide an abstract of each citation. Remember: appearance, spelling, grammar count. TSS -- Therapeutic Support Staff or One to One Aide
Definition: A TSS or Therapeutic Support Staff, is staff that supports individual students. They are often called one to one aides or wrap around staff. Therapeutic support staff are hired to work with an individual student. Their employment is usually named as an accommodation in that students IEP. TSS are often paid for or paid by the local (county) mental health agency rather than the school district. Qualifications: à Being a TSS does not require a college degree, but often graduates with degrees in psychology find work as a TSS while they are pursuing advanced degrees. Requirements for employment as a TSS or One on One (as they are often popularly referred to) may vary from state to state or agency to agency, but often some college is required. à Usually these positions are considered educational rather than custodial, and many states are trying to avoid using TSSs. à Some are economic, but some are educational, as a student with a TSS often becomes prompt dependent and unable to function independently. Responsibility: à A TSSs primary responsibility is to the student for whom they are hired. They may help the teacher or other students in order to create a positive environment for their student, but they are not supervised directly by the teacher, but by the IEP. Hopefully, a TSS will see him or herself as a part of the educational team. à There is no question that the teacher, as the leader in a classroom, should command the cooperation of the TSS. à Often a TSS is assigned so that a child can spent more time in a general education classroom, and will work one on one with the student to help him or her do age appropriate general education curricular tasks. à Sometimes the TSS will bring the students folder of modified word from the special education resource room to complete parallel. à It is important for the General Educator to communicate with the TSS to establish which general education tasks (especially in content, such as science or social studies) the student can do with the class, rather than what may be in their folder.à A Partnership: à Although the TSSs responsibility is for the student, when the special education teacher works closely with the TSS and the General Educator, it is more likely both the student and the classroom teacher will benefit. à When the other students in the general education classroom see Mr. Bob, or Ms. Lisa as partners in leadership, you can ask them to push à in with their student into learning centers or in small group discussion. à Modeling how to get the student more involved by fading support is also critical.à Also Known As: One to One Aide, Wrap Around, Wrap Around Aide Examples: Because of his self injurious behavior, Rodney has a TSS at school, who sees that Rodney does not bang his head on the tray of his chair, or on the wall.

William s Parkinson s Disease And Miguel s Hypoxic...
1. Presentations from two classmates The two presentations I chose were Williamââ¬â¢s Parkinsonââ¬â¢s Disease and Miguelââ¬â¢s Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE). The reason I chose the Parkinsonââ¬â¢s one was that I presented on Huntingtonââ¬â¢s disease (HD) and people often compare the two. I was saddened to learn that the cause of Parkinsonââ¬â¢s has yet to be discovered since they have discovered the faulty gene associated with HD. Both diseases are still in need of a cure, but I feel that HD is just one step closer at the moment. It also interested me that men are more likely to get Parkinsonââ¬â¢s, while men and women have an equal chance of getting HD. Another difference is that a majority of Parkinsonââ¬â¢s cases are not inherited, while HD is clearly hereditary. Something else I found intriguing was that HD has a stated life expectancy of 10 to 20 years after onset of symptoms. People with Parkinsonââ¬â¢s do not have a set life expectancy and may live as long as somebody without th e disease. However, I do understand that advanced Parkinsonââ¬â¢s symptoms could lead to life-threatening complications which could result in death. The reason I chose the HIE presentation is that it was one of the few presentations I had never heard of before. I had no idea that HIE is one of the leading cause of death among infants. It is scary to think that this could happen to your baby even prior to birth. It is yet another thing to be concerned about during pregnancy and the birth process. There is such a difference

The Women s Rights Movement Essay - 1561 Words
Introduction There are numerous organizations under the auspices of the International Womenââ¬â¢s Rights Movement. As a matter of fact, according to Nevala (2005), since 1995, the United Nations has continuously been committed towards the elimination of violence against women under the United Nations Crime Prevention and Justice Program. As it pertains to Canada, Lakeman (2006) affords that The Vancouver Rape Relief Center shelters over 100 rape domestic abuse victims each year. However, in spite of the great, motivating, and inspiring strides that have over the years been made towards the realization of gender parity and womenââ¬â¢s empowerment (Human Rights Watch, 2006), a large number of women around the world are trafficked into sexual slavery and forced labor, married early as children, denied political participation and access to education, while other are caught up in disastrous conflicts where rape is executed as a weapon of terror. The consequences arising from the pre valence of violence against women are dire, ranging from the proliferation of the HIV/AIDS endemic, rising cases of unwanted pregnancies, trauma, and the continuous cycle of poverty. According to Watts Zimmerman (2002), violence against women is predominantly used to sustain the balance of terror, or as some prefers to call it, the unequal balance of power. An example is the conscious use of violence by male partners or spouses within the domestic realm to promote subordination in asserting their positionShow MoreRelatedThe Women s Rights Movement702 Words à |à 3 Pagesthat the womenââ¬â¢s rights movement in the United States failed to accomplish its goals in the early ââ¬âmid 19th century because the slavery issue was never resolved is unfounded. Sensory Characterization Consumer Profile -Myassignmenthelp.Com
Question: Discuss About The Sensory Characterization Consumer Profile? Answer: Introduction Entrepreneurship, in simple words, is the process that involves establishing a new business. The person who establishes this new business is known as an entrepreneur. The subject of Entrepreneurship is tremendously wide. To the deep end of logic, Entrepreneurship defines a style of thinking and it is predominantly an attitude which involves finding solutions to problems and thus generating value (Business News Daily, 2017). Entrepreneurship is absolutely vital for every national and international economy as it provides a platform for innovation and that provides base to growth. Which is why various governments are encouraging and expansively working to provide support and propagate businesses by offering grants, aids and subsidies. My new business idea involves the institution of a currency consultation firm. Given the economic scenario at the moment, we have noticed that there are enormous fluctuations in the currency market specifically in the Australian Dollar - US dollar pair. Over a span of last three years alone, the domestic currency has faced a low of 0.6861 and a high of 1.0608 (XE, 2017). No doubt, such sharp movements of the currency will not pose an impact directly on people, but there are numerous businesses including but not limited to exports and imports where such fluctuations tend to have a major influence (ABC News, 2015). The main target of the currency consulting firm is to provide assistance to clients for tracing, inspecting, governing, working at reducing the impact as well as taking due benefit of these fluctuations. Currency consultation This is the primary service offered by the firm where in the clients will be advised on a daily basis upon their trade orders. They will be given a daily update on the currency movements and how they can protect themselves against unwanted risk. The detailed analysis would be done on the basis of fundamentals and technical. Fundamental analysis refers to scrutinizing the economic data of countries and gaining an understanding of its influence over the currency. The data which is collected includes GDP growth rate, inflation rate, interest rate fluctuation, unemployment rate and meeting minutes of the Reserve bank of Australia. (Forex Factory, 2017). On the other hand technical analysis includes the study of historic fluctuations in the currency, applying formulae and mathematically predicting the upcoming trends. This can be accomplished by the use of Reuters and Bloomberg terminals. They are the most effective tools of financial analysis (Financial Times, 2017) Research reports This is a secondary service which requires the firm to send daily updates to clients via reports. This also helps in eliminating any kind of miscommunication when advises are given on the phone. Live Screen Most of the importers and exporters look at live rates from leading news channels and websites, however, they offer a lagged rate and banks do not accept this rate. This is why we will be providing our clients with a Reuter or Bloomberg linked live screen installed on their personal computers. This will help them negotiate with the bank. Business model Canvas Proposed by Alexander Osterwalder, Business model canvas is a strategic management tool designed specifically to help new startups formulate and organize their plans and get a clear picture of their venture. It provides convenience of business planning and organizing and assists in defining a complicated business in nine simple components (Forbes, 2012). Customer Segments Customer segments essentially involves the market of specific customers targeted by the firm or Target market. Phillip Kotler defines target market as a set of well-defined set of customers whose needs the organization plans to satisfy (Creighton University, 2002). Customer segments predominantly targeted by the company would include businesses importing to Australia. At large, Australian imports include gold, wheat, petroleum, iron ore and coal. Businesses that are exporting from Australia to other parts of the world products including but not limited to natural gas, agricultural products, minerals and wool will also for a part of primary target market. Geographically, the business will commence operations in the heart of the country, Sydney. This would be an advantage given the city is home for a sundry number of export and import businesses. However clienteles would be targeted throughout the country. Value proposition Value proposition refers to the ways in which any organization creates tangible on intangible value for its clients. The currency consulting firm aims to achieve three targets Increase awareness of the currency markets: Currency fluctuations majorly affect importers and exporters of our country. Yet little is done to gain knowledge due to the complexity of the subject. This firm predominantly aims to increase awareness amongst clients about currency markets, factors that influence currency movements and how can businesses remain protected from them. This awareness will eventually help them predict near future fluctuations in the currency and hence will be in a better position to mitigate any risks arising from them. Reduce risks faced by clients due to currency fluctuations: The barometer of trade in Australia is consistently rising and the forecast looking upwards for the same (Reuters, 2017). This is demonstrated by the facts and figures showing that Australia has exported AUD 31.05bn and has imported AUD 30.66bn worth of goods and services in July this year (Trading Economic, 2017). The currency fluctuations often lead to losses faced by our exporters and importers as they find it difficult to predict currency movements. Our firm aims to reduce these risks so the clients can be better equipped to hedge their trade transactions. Increase in profit margins: Like every other consultancy, the measurable goal of our firm would be to increase profit margins of our clients by guiding them in the most appropriate manner about how they can hedge their currency. This is the only tangible value proposition offered by the firm and hence is the most important. Once clients are aware about how the currency market functions and what the factors behind these daily fluctuations are, they can make better decisions and hence reduce the risks associated with them therefore leading to increased profits. Customer relationships Customer relationships are an important aspect of any business. They pave way for loyal customers and increase organizational efficiency. There are following ways in which the firm will ensure long term and healthy customer relations. Monthly review meetings: Regular review meetings with customers help them stay connected to the organization. These meetings ensure that customer feedbacks and improvisation plans are followed through and any grievances from the clients can be efficiently addressed. Regular telephonic feedbacks: Meetings can be conducted monthly but besides that telephonic conversations help in relationship building with clients. Wishing them on their birthdays/anniversaries etc. will also add a personalized touch and further assist in client retention. Daily advisory: As a part of the services offered by the company, daily advisory must be provided to clients about the currency markets, their overview, analysis and forecast. Daily reports: Everyday reports will be sent to clients. These reports will contain detailed analysis of currency markets along with charts and fundamental details. This is also done to avoid any miscommunication on the phone. Customer relationship management team: There will be a dedicated team who will work on enhancing customer relations with all the clients. They will ensure that they can be reached all the time and any issues faced by the client will be addressed by them. They will also make sure that clients are wished on special occasions like their birthdays, anniversaries, New Year and Christmas etc. Channels Channels are mediums that connect the organization to its clients. We will be reaching out to clients by the following means: Events: A lot of events are conducted regularly by various export and import associations like Export council of Australia, Australian exporters association, Food and beverage importers association of Australia. These events are attended by all renowned exporters and importers of the country and hence will provide us with a perfect platform to market our services. Referrals: Referrals are an efficient way of getting more clients on board. They are basically friends, associates or acquaintances of our clients. If the client is happy with our services, they may refer other exporters and importers to associate with us (Berman, 2016). Certain referral bonuses can also be offered as this way existing clients will also work at introducing new prospects to the organization. Cold calling: There will be a dedicated presales team whose job would be to cold call all the exporters and importers in the country, tell them about our organization and fix meetings with them. They is the more traditional channel of reaching out to clients. Marketing and PR activities: Television ads and sponsoring events of import-export associations will help to spread awareness about our services. There will be a marketing and PR team who will ensure that the firm is well branded. One on one meetings: Once the presales team does cold calling, one on one meetings will be conducted with clients across the country with an aim to market our services, get them on board and also enhance our knowledge about the industry news. Key activities CRM: customer relationship management is an important aspect of maintaining healthy and fruitful relationships with customers once they are on board. Their aim is an increased level of customer retention. And bridging the gap between client and organizations (Mithas, 2013). Research: Research team is the basis on which a currency consulting firm can function. Our product is our detailed knowledge on the currency markets and this can be accomplished on with the help of a very eminent and competent research team. The research team will formulate the companys outlook on the currency and hence they are the backbone of the organization. Market analysis: Market analysis would be done by each and every person in the organization. Everyday a meeting would be conducted where members from all the teams would come together and discuss their viewpoints on the currency market. Based on a combined analysis, the organization will form one view, which will then be communicated to the clients. Selling: Like every other organization, services needs to be sold and that requires a dedicated sales team who will reach out to potential clients and help to bring them on board. They are driven by revenue generation targets. Marketing and PR: Marketing and PR are activities revolving around spreading awareness about the organization and its services to a wider audience (Nath, 2014). This assists in building a brand name for the firm and ensures that the goodwill of the organization sustains. Customer profiling: This is a fairly new concept and helps organizations segment their market and define their target customers. This includes creating a portrait of customers, understanding their needs and goals and eventually serving them based on these outlines (Varela, 2014). Pre-sale service: Often organizations make the mistake of reaching out to prospective clients without enough knowledge about them. Pre-sales activities involve gathering information about the clients, making a customized presentation for them and assisting sales team with any other information that they might require (Agnihotri, 2017). After sale service: Once the client comes on board, it is imperative that services promised are efficiently delivered. Over promising leads to dissatisfied clients and higher client attrition. Key resources Human resource: Like every other organization, humans are key resources of the firm. This includes every member of the organization. Every business must make sure their employees are satisfied, motivated and fairly compensated (Kramar, 2014). Bloomberg or Reuters terminal: As discussed above, the firm requires a Bloomberg or a Reuters terminal in order to get the exact exchange rate which is accepted by the banks. This terminal is useful in receiving live news, helps in getting charts and previous data of the currency dating back to over 100 years and hence is an extremely important research tool. Library of research reports: As mentioned before, research forms the backbone of this organization and hence it is crucial that from the first day, all the reports released by the firm are accumulated together as they will be a major resource of the firm. Data team: Data team will fetch data about exporters and importers around the country and their details. This data can also be a very useful resource for the firm in the years to come. Key partners Head of sales who will have a sales team reporting to him and will take complete responsibility in ensuring revenue generation for the company. Head of consulting will lead the research and analytics team and will take complete responsibility for appropriate view of the market and correct forecast of the currency market. Revenue Structure The firm offers niche services and therefore the customers targeted would comprise of export or import businesses earning a turnover greater than AUD 20 million. Many firms make immense mistakes in pricing their products because they fail to consider that a similar pricing strategy cannot work well for every client (Forbes, 2015). Hence the firm is equipped to offer two separate business models to clients and they can select the one they prefer. Fixed Fee: As the name suggests, services offered will be charged as a fixed consultation fee per annum. This will be varied for every client and will be decided based on their annual trade turnover. Payment structure will include two parts. One part of the remuneration will be paid in advance whereas the second part will be paid after 6 months of regular service. The advance fee model will help the firm cover costs for client acquisitions. One advantage of this model is that it establishes an element of trust in the clients specifically when they are provided with an option to make half the payment later. Profit Sharing: Just as the name suggests, this model provides clients with an option to share the profits earned six monthly, monthly or quarterly. The payment cycle will depend on the business cycles of the client. This facility is provided to the clients because the time duration between receiving an order by the client and actual delivery of the goods can vary between one to six months (Inc., 2010). Appropriate systems would be in place to track when and exactly how much have clients earned from the expert advices offered by the firm. In addition, an updated portfolio management sheet shall be provided to all the clients. Cost structure There are four kinds of costs involved with the formulation of this firm as given below. They are self-explanatory. Employee salaries Land and building expense Bloomberg Reuters terminal Marketing and PR costs Minimum Viable product Minimum viable product is the most basic product or service offered by any organization. It is a no frills product and defines the least that organization can offer (Blank, 2013). Research reports and daily advisory to all clients is the minimum viable product offered by the firm. Feasibility analysis Feasibility analysis is gaining an understanding of how successfully can any project be completed. This is predominantly determined by four important factors (The Balance, 2017). Market Feasibility Upon analysis of market feasibility of a currency consulting firm, it has been noted that the market offers a brilliant opportunity for the formulation of this firm. The major competition include brokers who are not solely focused on providing consultancy to clients. Also the high density of exporters and importers in the Australian subcontinent provides us with a large market to sell our services. Technical Feasibility Technically, the service is simple to understand and does not require a lot of resources. Clients will be communicated over the phone. Bloomberg and Reuter terminals will require experts who can perform technical and fundamental analysis using them. These experts will be hired from best universities and firms and will be given due training. Human Feasibility Human resource will be hired from tier 1 universities across the country with exceptional relevant experience. There are various universities which are now offering courses on capital markets and hence this feasibility aspect can also be achieved. Financial Feasibility Like every other business, initial capital will be raised with the help of families and friends of the key partners. Bank loans can be applied for and angel investors will be approached for funding purposes.
